Why Build a Backyard Office?

Prefab office pods cost $15,000–$50,000 delivered. Garage conversions average $15,000 and reduce resale value. Coworking spaces run $300–$500/month. The Ergosphere is a sound-isolated, climate-controlled workspace you build yourself for under $6,500 in materials — and take with you if you move.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The handbook includes cable routing guides for running power, Ethernet, and fiber from your house to the Ergosphere. Most builders run a standard 20A circuit. Consult a licensed electrician for the connection to your home panel.
The double-shell geodesic construction with mineral wool creates a quiet workspace. Video calls, focus work, and meetings are comfortable without noise from neighbors, traffic, or household activity.
Yes. The R-20 insulation keeps heat in during winter and out during summer. Most builders add a mini-split HVAC unit (5,000-8,000 BTU) for precise temperature control in all seasons.
Requirements vary by location. Many areas allow accessory structures under 120 sq ft without a permit, especially on a non-permanent foundation. Structures with plumbing or wiring may have additional requirements. Check with your local building department.
The modular design accommodates plumbing runs, but the standard plans do not include plumbing. Builders have successfully added sinks and wet bars. You will need to route supply and drain lines from your house. Consult a licensed plumber.
